Veterinary Exam

Routine comprehensive check-ups for your pet are essential to their overall well-being.

Veterinary exams allow us to stay up-to-date on any changes in your pet's health. Since time goes by quicker in pet years, it's important for your pet to have a checkup once a year and, in some cases, even more often. To book your pet's next veterinary exam, please contact us at 519-941-2275.

Why does my pet need an annual vet visit?

Since pets age faster than humans, it's even more crucial for them to have regular exams. Bringing your pet in for an annual diagnostic and wellness checkup can help confirm that your dog or cat is healthy or help us detect hidden conditions much sooner. Early detection can improve the prognosis of many diseases, keep medical costs down, and help your pet live longer. Many dogs and cats are good at hiding signs that something is wrong, so subtle changes in their health or behaviour could be easy to overlook. Also, depending on the disease, some pets don't show any symptoms at all in the early stages.

What does a veterinary exam include?

During your pet's wellness exam, we will perform a physical assessment, checking your dog or cat from nose to tail. We will also make sure your pet receives appropriate vaccinations and preventives. Depending on the case, we may also conduct a diagnostic workup, which could include blood, fecal, and urine tests to check for parasites and underlying diseases. We also recommend that your pet receive dental care. When your pet is nearing his or her senior years, we will recommend a baseline exam and diagnostic workup, so we'll know what's normal for your pet. This will enable us to keep track of any changes as they age. During the appointment, please let us know if you've noticed any physical or behavioural changes in your pet, as well as share any other concerns you have about their overall health.
