Food can be a love language for many pets and their owners. However, it's important to alter your pet's perception of food as fuel rather than an indulgence. The additional weight doesn't only impact your pet's physical appearance but their overall health. Pets who are obese are at a higher risk of developing the following:

Can I still feed my pet treats?

There's nothing wrong with feeding your pet treats as long as they don't exceed 10% of their daily caloric intake. Treats shouldn't be used as a reward for behaviour. It's important to break this association for your pet and only provide treats occasionally. Healthier treats you can incorporate into your pet's diet includes apples, carrots, watermelon, strawberries, and broccoli.
