Nutrition Counselling for Pets

Diet and lifestyle guidance to ensure your pet remains happy and healthy.

With the help of nutritional counselling, you can provide your pet with the best food that meets their dietary needs. Your pet could have a range of dietary needs based on their age, lifestyle, or overall health. Dietary counselling includes dietary recommendations specific to your pet. Since no two pets are the same, their diets shouldn't be identical either!

How does my pet's food impact their health?

The right food can make a big difference in your pet's health. That's why we offer a wide variety of therapeutic diets for a variety of life stages and disease conditions. We also carry supplements for general wellness, as well as acute and chronic disease conditions. If your pet has specific health conditions or concerns, we can recommend special diets tailored for them.
For example, are you trying to help your pet lose weight, but you'd still like to give him or her a treat occasionally? Ask about our lower-calorie treats. If your pet is at risk for dental disease, we have diets, chews, and treats that can help keep their gums and teeth healthier by controlling plaque and tartar.

Does my pet need a prescription for a special diet?

Some veterinary diets require a prescription, while others do not. Before the vet can prescribe your pet special diet food or supplements, you'll need to visit our practice to discuss your pet's nutrition needs. During the appointment, we'll assess your pet's overall health and medical history to determine if any nutritional gaps need to be addressed or foods that can be implemented to support certain health conditions. Your pet's breed, age, and life stage will also impact our recommendations. For example, puppies and senior dogs shouldn't eat the same food because younger pets need a higher caloric intake to support their growth and development. To book your pet's next appointment, please contact us at 519-941-2275.
